Start and the end of the move!

Moved my 150 gallon qt system. Saturday I will be moving the remaining 400 gallons lol
Anyone care to help i know it's a little late to ask. Could make it a move demonstration instead of a frag demo. lol. Just kidding.

Plan is to put all of corals in coolers than the rock in tubs, drain most of the water, than pull the fish place in buckets, take most of the water. Than drive to new house put fish in the 150. Place corals in a 150 gallon stock tank with the rock and protin skimmer and wave pumps. Go back take sand out and wash,than move the remaining equipment tanks and stands. That is my game plan.

That sounds like what I did with mine i put corals in baggies placed those in a 5 gallons bucket filled with water rocks in 5 gallon buckets filled with water fish in one bucket and then sand in one bucket. Put in the rocks after a scrub corals next then fish. Washed out the sand next and put that in the new tank. That was just a 40 breeder going into a 125.

 

Took me a few hours but i got everything moved and in their temporary spot. I lost a molly. I had to break my purple Montipora to get it to fit in my cooler but it will grow back it time it also needed a good trimming anyway. Also had 2 trash cans 3/4 full of sand. Does anyone know how long my tank will be okay outside?

It will be a 2 to 3 weeks. Need to put up some drywall frist. I just put them outside because i didn't want to work around them.

There is a thread somewhere about a guy who set up a greenhouse for a reef set up could read on that see if there is anything that can help you out

 

My temporary setup is good. That's inside. Just wondering about the empty tanks sitting out side in the weather. As far as sand goes that will get washed very well and reused.

I left my sand in a 5 gallon bucket outside for 3 days and when i rinsed it i used freshwater from a hose outside i wasnt to worried about keeping it live i just wanted it clean. I dont think leavinh a tank outside would do anything to the tankits glass just would have to clean it out pretty good i bet ha

 

Turbo makes a good point about sunlight and silicone. The other thing I would offer (with NO scientific basis at all!) is the light/heat and dark/cool causing a lot of expansion and contraction of the joints. Likely not an issue in just a couple of weeks but the tarp might help with the sunlight factor causing that glass to heat up any more than it needs to. Weak seams are every fish tank movers worst nightmare!!

 

I will cover. the only sunlight it gets is late late afternoon when the Sun is setting. It's sitting on the north side of the house
