I was curious to know if anyone has had any luck with non-dwarf species of angels in their reef? My tank is primarily soft and lps corals.
    Thanks for any input/advice,
    Noah

It's a no from me. They like to eat zoas from what I hear.

I have a couple of the more reef safe Large Angels. (regal and a gold flake)
When it comes to softies and LPS I have found they are fine with mushrooms, leather corals and plain looking Zoas and Palys. They will eat any cool looking Zoas you have.
LPS is a little better. Torches hammers frogspawn and chalices seem ok. Acans are hit and miss. Mine totally ignored some but would nip at others. I would expect Larger fleshy LPS like Lobos, open brains, Scolys to be eaten.

All my SPS corals have been fine.

Ive heard those are two of the most reef safe large Angels (outside of the one group which includes bellus, swallowtails and the like) I would expect emperors, blue face, Koran and other Angels to be even less reef safe.

Noah, We have a regal, goldflake and blue face (and Moorish Idol) in our basement tank. Mostly sps but have a couple of lps and a few softies. The only casualty has been zoas. We did plan for them though so was not a big deal. Well worth it.

I tried it with a Passer, Emporer, Flame angels. They ate all zoas and lps.

No problem with any of my SPS, LPS, or zoas with a small adult queen angel, large adult majestic angel, or flame angel.
