Hello everyone, I thought since I have been following your site for about two years I should probably join. I use Bob Fenners site and Sally Jo at Garf as well. I like your site because your local and you seem to be a good group of people (you are Iowans). I have been involved in salt for about 6 years now. There are 5 of us at work who are full fledged fish nuts, which is odd because we only employ 22 people. I have two 125 gallon tanks, one is in the wall and the other is a holding tank for a friends coral. I enjoy softies and sps mostly. I have ambitions to either build a large plywood/glass front tank or get a 220 to put in the wall where my 125 currently sits. My friends and I have mostly stocked our tanks by doing large group buys from people getting out of the hobby. Thanks for providing such a welcoming environment! Keep up the good work! Quam
[class="Apple-style-span"] [hr][/class][class="Apple-style-span"]Welcome to GIRS![/class] [hr]There are quite a few online resources for reefers and I've always found it great to have such a wealth of information locally. It sounds like you are an advanced member, just new, and not really a "newbie" - are we going to see some more details of your tanks? Pics? -Eric
Thanks Eric, I definitely would not say advanced! As far as tank specs, I use a hob remora skimmer with a mag7 on my sump which is just a modded 55 gallon. I have a hob refugium with caulerpa and about 1 inch of aragonite. I use filter floss on the sump to catch the big stuff. I have a korlia 4 movin the water in the display. The light is a coralife slim with 2 150s 14k and pc actinic on the sides.
Thanks for joining Quam! The more the merrier. Where do you live & work? Are the others salt people too? There is one other at my work that is into salt out of 11 of us.
Thanks xroads. I work for T&M services in Cedar Rapids. The others are all salt, they are the ones who sucked me into the saltwater vortex!
