I can't wait to see your stand when it is done. Are you ready to start building it yet? You should post pics of it as you go!

Cut List applied to the rough cut wood.

Rough cut, Jointed, and Ripped boards to width... Seems to take up less space. I also added some epoxy to D4 to stabilize a knot hole.

I hope to cut some of the boards to final length, plane to thickness and do some joinery tomorrow.

Well I didn't get much done the rest of the weekend with it being hot out and the motor on the table saw gave out so I probably won't be working on this for a good week. Below is the face frame completed.

It is going to look too nice to put a tank on and get it all wet and salty!

I have the 2 of the IM tanks and tried their first gen skimmer. it skimmed really well but created really bad micro bubbles. I have heard good things about the desktop skimmer but if it does not work well, keep the tunze doc skimmer in mind. I run it on my 38 IM tank and it pulls a lot of gunk and no micro bubble!

Thanks for the heads up. I will post how it works once I get the tank all setup.

Time for another update. The stand is just about fully assembled and the first step in finishing is complete. I am using Watco Dark Walnut Danish Oil for the first coat to provided a deep color and bring out the grain. As soon as the oil is dry 74 hours I will be applying two coats of 1/2lb cut amber shellac to add a nice antique amber appearance. To protect the wood I will then be finishing with 3 coats of General Finishes ARM-R-Seal polyurethane. I hope the next picture I post is with the fish tank sitting on top :)
